Hotel Review: Executive Deluxe Room @ The Ritz-Carlton KL

When the school holiday approaches, my daughter would always ask me "Mummy are we going for a hotel stay during the school holidays"? Since I had loads of YTL points that I had to use up quickly, we decided to redeem 1 night stay at The Ritz-Carlton KL with the kids and another night stay with Hubby only (adult rejuvenation weekend - more on that later!).

Before we moved to KL, The Ritz-Carlton KL was often our hotel of choice when we came up for the weekend/holiday in KL. We loved staying here as the rooms are plush and the service has always been exemplary. Not to mention, the excellent location in Bukit Bintang next to the shopping malls such Pavilion KL, Starhill Gallery, Fahrenheit 88 and Lot 10.

Executive Deluxe Room

We were greeted warmly by the doorman and escorted to the hotel reception to check-in. Our room wasn't ready yet so we went upstairs to use the pool facilities. Unfortunately for us, we only got to spend a little time in the pool before it started raining (with thunder too!).

In the past we have stayed in the Deluxe Room, which we thought was great since it had a view of the Twin Towers. This trip, we were upgraded to the Executive Deluxe Room since there were no lower category rooms available at that time. The Executive Deluxe Room (495 sq ft) is a lot more spacious than the deluxe room, with a separate sitting area, bedroom with king size bed, a walk-in wardrobe, a marble bathroom with separate shower and tub, and another toilet near the sitting area. Happy to see that the hotel rooms are very well-maintained and interior is still as plush as I remembered it. We would have preferred a room with a view of the Twin Towers and it would have been better if we were given a non-smoking room. There is complimentary wifi in the hotel's restaurants and lobby but wifi in the room is chargeable at RM50 per day.

After spending some time in the room, we went for afternoon tea at The Lobby Lounge, which the kids enjoyed tremendously before walking over to the malls for some window shopping. We returned to our rooms to find some chocolate cookies waiting for us, from turndown service.

A separate sitting area with LCD TV and DVD player and spacious writing desk

The TV had a USB port, so the kids happily watched some cartoons before we went for afternoon tea at the Lobby Lounge (read more here)

Marble bathroom

Large bathtub, and the hotel also provided natural bath salts for a soothing and relaxing experience. The kids enjoyed their (extended) bathtime here!

The Ritz-Carlton KL is within walking distance to Bukit Bintang area. Kids and daddy in front of the Pavilion KL fountain (Tallest Liuli Crystal Fountain in Malaysia).

We had a good night's sleep in the comfortable king-sized bed with goose down pillows.  Breakfast is served at César’s Restaurant on Level 1. In my opinion, this is one of the best hotel breakfast around. Hotel guests can order from an a la carte menu, whereby breakfast dishes are prepared upon order; one item per guest. Choose from eggs, pancakes, waffles, Japanese (shake shio), Indian (chapati, aloo pori), Malaysian (nasi lemak, mee goreng) or Chinese (congee, dry wantan noodles). We ordered three egg dishes - black truffle omelette, eggs benedict, and two sunny side eggs. Baby D wanted the Malaysian kaya toast with Hailam bread. Other than this, guests can also enjoy the buffet spread.

One of the servers wore the napkin for Baby D nicely around his neck, which he liked very much. I really love the service at The Ritz-Carlton KL (and any other YTL Hotels & Resorts), it's so pleasant walking around the hotel and being greeted with a smile.

Other than the a la carte menu, guests can help themselves to the buffet spread at César’s

Lovely flaky croissants and pastries with coffee/tea and fresh juices

Black truffle omelette with asparagus, tomatoes and chive jus - nice fluffy omelette

A decadent start to the day

Two sunny side up eggs with grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, beef bacon and Cumberland sausage

Eggs benedict with beef bacon, Hollandaise and mushroom ragout - beautiful runny eggs!

After breakfast, we headed to the pool again. Better luck this time as it stayed nice and dry for us. :) There is no kids swimming pool here, so adult supervision is required. But nonetheless, the kids had fun! The pool is located on Level 4, the same level as the gym, spa and sauna/steam room/jacuzzi (which can be used by all guests over 12).

Pool time!

Relaxing after a swim

Verdict: We had a great stay here at The Ritz-Carlton KL. Lovely room with great location and we especially like the service here which makes this hotel stand out.
