Cameron Valley Tea House, Bangsar, KL

Few months back, I won some dining vouchers (worth RM100) to dine at Cameron Valley Tea House located at Jalan Telawi 5, Bangsar. Part of the Bharat Group, the Bangsar outlet serves breakfast items, salads, doughnut sandwiches, sandwiches, pastas, main courses, snacks, cakes, scones and tea beverages.

The restaurant was very quiet when we visited, throughout our meal there was only one other person dining there. I guess with so many dining options in Jalan Telawi, competition is tough. I notice that they offer set lunches for under RM20, but since we had dining vouchers to spend, we just ordered from their a la carte menu. According to the menu, they use only natural, fresh ingredients such as olive oil, fresh herbs and home-made sauces with no MSG.

Great steak

Lots of Cameron Valley tea on sale here

Bread &Water can so easily be Toast & Tea

Since their speciality here are their tea beverages, we ordered an iced vanilla tea float (RM8) as well as teh tarik smoothie (RM7) to try. The iced vanilla tea float was pretty disappointing as it was tasteless, the saving grace is the cute boot mug it was served in that managed to put a smile on our faces. The teh tarik smoothie on the other hand was good.

Hubby ordered the eggs benedict (RM7) with an extra top-up of beef bacon (RM9). The two poached eggs placed on foccacia was nicely done, however the Hollandaise sauce was not pleasant. The beef bacon also had a strange metallic taste.. no good at all!

Thankfully, everything else we tried here was decent. Hubby also had the Chicken Ham & Cheese sandwich (RM24) which consisted of grilled chicken ham slices, mozzarella cheese, crushed walnuts, caramelised onions, tomatoes, watercress and olives. The bread tasted fresh and the filling was flavorful.

I ordered the sirloin steak (RM35), a 180g steak grilled to medium rare (very nicely done I have to say) and served with sauteed mushrooms, caramelised onion, asparagus, carrot and homemade black pepper sauce. I really enjoyed the steak - it was tender and for the price, I would say it is very good value for money.

Verdict: Overall, food was mediocre but the steak was good. For RM35, it's worth returning for.

Pork-free.

Service: Good.

  8. Hi Yen,
Cameron right here in the city! My sis has not been able to find the fruit tea in KL, which we bought from Cameron on our last trip. Will let her know of this place. Thanks for sharing!

  9. ooh, i wouldn't mind ordering TWO servings of the sirloin, and have 360 grams of the meaty goodness (though hmmm, just realized that 360 grams of sirloin for RM70+ might not seem quite as impressive a bargain)...

  12. I think the Tea House name doesn't give people the impression they serve food. I had no idea they have a full menu there..lol. I shall stay away from the Eggs Benedict! Especially since Wendy is so fond of ordering that.. =P

  14. The egg benedict looks very good! Bangsar was my dating place with William 13 years ago but it's a shame that since I've moved to Sydney, we hardly have chance to go back there!

  15. There's a black pepper sandwich which I like here. But other items were so so for me. I do like the Masala tea though. :)
