Silver Spoon, Publika, Solaris Dutamas, KL

With so many eateries in Publika (Solaris Dutamas), how does one choose where to have a meal? At a restaurant serving good food, of course! Silver Spoon is one of the places serving affordable yet delicious food... and did I mention that they do very good desserts here too?

The restaurant's interior is elegant yet casual, with some outdoor seating for those who prefer al fresco dining. I especially like the design of the ceiling inside, and also the makeshift lamp made from empty bottles as well as the specially designed spoon lamps. There is also several TVs inside, including one which shows diners live cooking from the kitchen. Very cool!

Looking in

The food served here is Western (mainly Italian), with a little fusion here and there. If you're working around Publika, they do a 2-course set lunch for RM18.90 from Monday to Fridays.

We started off with their signature ice teas, the Strawberry Iced Tea (RM11.50) and Jess's Lychee Iced Tea (RM11.50). I prefer the latter which is on the sweeter side, whereas Hubby enjoyed the tangy strawberry one - win-win I say!

We tried one of their small plates - the Stuffed Portobello mushroom (RM14) was topped with breadcrumbs, more mushroom, herbs and melted Parmesan cheese. This was good.

The Spaghetti with Shrimp Tom Yum Ragu and Grilled Prawns (RM26) was my favorite dish from our meal.  The Thai  flavours just worked really well - tangy, spicy and appetizing... definitely enticing to our palate. This is one of their signature dishes, as is their Smoked Duck pizza (but we didn't get to try it this time... maybe next time!).

The duck leg confit (RM38) was well prepared, love the crispy duck with tender meat which has been slow cooked in its own fat as well as the crisp potatoes. However, I didn't really care too much for the braised cabbage side.

And desserts are not to be missed! The chocolate brownie was really sinful.... the centre was soft, gooey and rich. We were told that this is a chef's daily special.. I think they should put it on their main menu!

So sexy

The sticky date and chocolate pudding here was also good, the rich pudding was complemented by a delicious (slightly salty) butterscotch sauce.
